On September 10, 2015—-one year and 31 days after the killing of Michael Brown–Dr. Cornel West visited our students for a rousing discussion about Ferguson, the black prophetic tradition, and the legacies of Ida B. Wells, Malcolm X, Ella Baker, W.E.B. DuBois, and James Baldwin.

Dr. West continues to inspire artists, thinkers, and freedom fighters across the globe by his unyielding commitment to the marginalized among us. His latest text, “Black Prophetic Fire” is love letter for a younger generation of freedom fighters

Dr. West continues to stand as America’s greatest blues prophet, a perennial long distance freedom fighter on the battlefield of justice. He graciously spent over six hours in two seminars: “By Any Means Necessary: James Baldwin and Malcolm X,” and “Black Lives Matter: Race, Resistance, and Populist Protest.”
